Wilson Cary Nicholas, from Albemarle County, Virginia, fought in the Revolution, and became a politician, serving in the Virginia General Assembly, 1784-89, 1794-1799, as a U.S. senator, 1799-1804, and as a congressman, 1807-1809. Alexander Taggart McGill was born at Canonsburg, PA on February 24, 1807. He graduated from Jefferson College at Canonsburg and then entered the Associate Presbyterian Seminary. He had to suspend his studies because of his health. He then taught at the Baldwin Academy in Milledgeville, GA and enter the bar in that state in 1830. Francis Taliaferro Brooke was born in Smithfield, Va. He served in the Continental Army. In 1788, he was admitted to the Virginia Bar. He married Mary Randolph Spotswood. Brooke served in the Virginia House of Delegates and in the Virginia Senate. His second wife was Mary Champe Carter.
